Imperva - San Mateo, CA (NYC) May 2021 - Present

Senior Vice President, Infrastructure and Cloud Operations

Hired to build a Technical Operations organization from the ground up, reporting to the CEO, with the goal of transforming technology to compel a sale or public listing.

• Founded and grew ~100-member organization (six direct reports) with responsibility for our global Cybersecurity application portfolio infrastructure, representing $500MM+ in annual revenue.

• Transformed technical operations from being embedded within Product Development to a standalone organization while maintaining developer velocity.  

• Introduced SLOs/SLAs as well as other KPIs to track uptime, stability, and resiliency.

• Promoted and enriched existing leadership while bringing in industry-leading talent to guide our transformative initiatives.

• Provided regular reporting to the CEO and Board regarding business and technical objectives and participated in quarterly Board meetings.

• Successfully sold to Thales for $3.7Bn in late 2023.

Netflix, Inc. - Los Gatos, CA 2008 - Jan 2021

Vice President of Network and Systems Infrastructure (2015 - 2021)

Director of Global Networks (2008 - 2015)

Hired in Director role and promoted to build and grow the Netflix content delivery network and supporting organization as a report to VP of Content Delivery.

• Founded and grew ~120-member organization (nine direct reports) responsible for network, systems and storage, and complementary business operations including provisioning and logistics, to enable Netflix to become the global video streaming market leader.

• Led all architecture, build, capacity planning, and support of owned technology infrastructure from script to screen, including content production, enterprise, and content delivery.

• Built the planet’s largest, most scalable, and most reliable content delivery network that represented over 35% of downstream internet traffic at peak using a hybrid approach of owned infrastructure and public/private cloud.

• Hired and mentored the first engineers within Content Delivery, forming the foundation for what became Netflix’s CDN, Open Connect.

• Established and maintained relationships with the world’s largest ISPs and led negotiations for transformational interconnect arrangements to enable Netflix scaling without jeopardizing product economics. Led engagement to address challenges, implement recommendations to improve network efficiency, and improve the experience of mutual subscribers.

• Built cross-functional relationships with internal Product and Studio organizations and leaders.

• Led network and colocation design, including proof of concept, installations, vendor selection and management, as well as deployment and operations.

• Fostered an internal culture of inclusion and diversity and recruited a global-first team. Served as Netflix ambassador to evangelize I&D successes at industry forums through multiple speaking engagements and extensive outreach with LGBTQ+, Women in Tech, and minority representation organizations. 

• Executive sponsor for the Pride @ Netflix LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group’s NYC chapter, coordinating events and sponsorships for inclusion-focused activities.

Yahoo, Inc. -  Sunnyvale, CA 2006 - 2008

Network Architecture Lead/Network Engineering Manager

Joined Yahoo upon acquisition of former employer Right Media with oversight for network and data center infrastructure. 

• Led Layer 4–7 network architecture, working with vendors including Cisco, Brocade, F5, Citrix, and A10 Networks.

• Managed a ~20-member organization at Right Media including Network Engineering, Operations, and Information Security teams.

• Completed the successful integration of the Right Media infrastructure into Yahoo post-acquisition.

Lava Trading (A division of Citi) - New York, NY 2004 - 2006

Senior Network Architect

• Integrated data center infrastructure and a network for high volume trade execution into Citigroup.

• Designed and implemented customer and core networks for a high availability, low latency trading network.

• Provided leadership to operational groups, including training sessions, documentation, and individual mentorship and professional development.

Prior experience includes leadership roles at Bridgewater Associates and Telx, as well as Senior Network Engineering roles with Bristol Myers Squibb, Gateway, and Susquehanna International Group.
